NAFFO was founded in 2009 as a members' association in Germany.

NAFFO Switzerland was founded in 2025 as a patrons' association.

The board of directors defines NAFFO's content and strategic direction and is responsible for its implementation. Furthermore, the board is responsible for the association's finances.
